The Manager, Medical Student Wellness is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive student wellness program supporting the mission of the MD Program and Office of Student Affairs. This position manages and coordinates multiple wellness-related initiatives designed to promote the psychological, physical, and professional wellbeing of medical students.
Under the Program Management job family, this role independently plans, organizes, facilitates, and evaluates programs and services that enhance student wellbeing across the medical education continuum. The Manager applies advanced professional knowledge, judgment, and discretion to develop evidence-based strategies, improve processes, and influence institutional practices aligned with accreditation requirements and best practices in medical education.
This position is student-facing and non-clinical. It does not provide counseling, diagnosis, or treatment, and instead serves in a supportive, consultative, and referral capacity.

Scope of Role
Accomplishes responsibilities by applying specialized knowledge and program management expertise. Exercises independent judgment, creativity, and analytical thinking to manage complex and evolving wellness initiatives.
Independently manages wellness programs, projects, and initiatives.
Develop goals and objectives aligned with institutional strategy.
Creates solutions and processes to support compliance and best practices.
Advises leadership on trends, risks, and opportunities related to student wellbeing.
Works on complex issues with limited precedent and develops new approaches.
Coordinates cross-functional efforts and institutional partnerships.
This position does not function as a licensed clinical provider.
Interactions with students are supportive and consultative, not therapeutic.
No clinical counseling, diagnosis, or treatment is provided.
Confidentiality is maintained in accordance with institutional policies and applicable laws.
Mandatory reporting requirements are followed as appropriate.
This is a non-supervisory role; however, the incumbent may coordinate committees, projects, and collaborative workgroups.
Primary Duties
Program Management & Strategy
Manage one or more wellness programs of substantive scope and impact.
Develop and implement a comprehensive, data-driven student wellness strategy.
Set program goals and establish measurable outcomes aligned with MD Program priorities and LCME standards.
Monitor program performance and recommend improvements.
Plan communications, outreach, and engagement strategies.
Program Development & Implementation
Design and deliver evidence-based wellness programs addressing:
Stress management
Burnout prevention
Mental health awareness
Work-life integration
Career satisfaction
Direct or co-direct the Wellness Committee and associated initiatives.
Coordinate wellness-related events, workshops, and activities.
Partner with campus resources to expand programming and services.
Integrate wellness concepts into the medical curriculum in collaboration with academic leadership.
Student Support & Resource Coordination
Provide individualized, non-clinical guidance and support to medical students.
Assess student needs and connect them with appropriate institutional or external resources.
Collaborate with counseling services, advisors, and faculty to ensure coordinated support.
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with institutional and regulatory guidelines.
Advocate for policies and practices that reduce barriers to student wellbeing.
Training & Community Engagement
Develop and deliver training for faculty and staff on recognizing and responding to student distress.
Facilitate small group discussions and workshops on wellness topics.
Represent the institution in professional networks and wellness initiatives.
Foster a culture of wellbeing, belonging, and inclusion within the MD Program.
Program Administration & Evaluation
Plan and coordinate day-to-day program activities.
Track engagement, outcomes, and program effectiveness using data systems.
Prepare reports and recommendations for leadership.
Assist with budget tracking and resource allocation (as applicable).
Maintain program documentation, policies, and procedures.
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Experience: Four (4) years of experience in Program management, coordination, or administration
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience. In instances where specific education and/or experience is required only directly related education and/or experience may be substituted.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in Student wellbeing, mental health programs, or related services.
Master’s or doctoral degree in counseling, psychology, public health, higher education, or related field.
Experience supporting medical students or healthcare trainees.
Familiarity with LCME accreditation standards (e.g., Element 12.3).
Licensure (or eligibility) in a mental health discipline preferred but not required.
Experience in program evaluation, curriculum development, and data analysis.
Knowledge of FERPA, HIPAA, and confidentiality requirements .
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Hiring Range: $85,500 - $93,000, Commensurate with education and experience
